- Resolve dependabot pull requests
- Upgrade to latest stable FE packages where possible

Critical issues:
1. JSX files have *.js extension (new build tools can't handle this well)
ext should be changed to *.jsx for all files with `import React from 'react'`
2. some files use ESM syntax (export default) and some CJS syntax (module.exports = )
